Peter Demientieff is an Eskimo who
specializes in jewelry, masks, and wood carvings and bone carvings. He also
does scrimshaw and reverse scrimshaw pieces on ivory and baleen (whale
bone).
He graduated from Kodiak High School
in 1979 and began carving in 1986 when he moved to Anchorage, where he makes
his home today. He signs his work "Pelo," a nickname given to him as a
baby.
