"Rainsplash"
Silk screen print. The
Tlingit believe that every part of nature has intelligence. Some parts are
obvious to us all. The creatures who move over the land or through the air
can choose to go as they like. The salmon remembers his way home after years
at sea. The beings of less intelligence are not so obvious to us. "The most
common thing in our Tlingit land is a raindrop," said the artist, Ben Paul.
"My grandfather told me, 'What person who has ever camped in our land can
deny that the raindrop which has found the hole in his tent and dropped
right into his eye has intelligence?' ” 9x11
inches. By Ben Paul. $50.00
