"Bears at Spring Breakup"
A necklace featuring two stone bears and rock crystal nuggets. The bears, on their first spring walk, still carry the star nations of the midnight sky on their coats. The rock crystal nuggets,  when highly polished, are reminiscent of ice chunks, just at spring breakup, and are from the beautiful Hyder, Alaska, area.  They date to the 1980s when a recreational prospector gave them to the artist as a gift. Smaller beads are aurora borealis Swarovski crystals, round and faceted separated with glass seed beads.  They were purchased during the 1980s by the artist on her wanderings. This is a heavy necklace; it ties at the back with buckskin, and is adjustable for length, while being kind to less than nimble fingers. By Lois Chichinoff Thadei. $420.00 (#1277)
