"Raven Ivory Halibut Hook"
Solid ivory halibut hook carved from a raw bull walrus tusk.
Ivory halibut hooks are used for story telling and ceremonial dancing. This
piece features 9 abalone inlays in nostrils, eyes, ears, wings and tail.
Halibut hook is bound in spruce root. Anchor line made of Chilkat warp (goat
wool and cedar bark) fixed to arm with an ivory washer and bead. L: 10.5

"Ivory Bear
Halibut Hook"
Solid ivory halibut hook carved from a raw bull walrus tusk.
Ivory halibut hooks are used for story telling and ceremonial dancing. This
piece features 6 abalone inlays in ears, arms and legs. Ruby eyes and fossil
ivory teeth.
Halibut hook is bound in spruce root. Anchor line made of Chilkat warp (goat
wool and cedar bark) fixed to arm with an ivory washer and bead. L: 8

“Shaman-Octopus Sword”
Ivory-handled small sword with 12-inch blade made of Damascus steel, an
ancient type of hard steel having a wavy appearance, used chiefly for sword
blades. Handle is made of female walrus ivory tusk and features a figure of
a Shaman holding an octopus in his mouth. Design is carved and scrimshawed
(a technique where ivory is etched and inked). Handle has 7 abalone inlays
in the eyes of the Shaman and octopus and in the Shaman’s teeth. Damascus
steel hand guard with copper and brass fittings. Includes wood blade sheath
that has copper fittings with forget-me-not flowers carved in copper. Handle
length: 6 inches. 1-5 weeks.
