Edward Raub is from the
Makah Tribe.
His Native art
career began in the 1970s when he began carving masks and totem poles for
sale to the tourist trade. He
graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe New Mexico,
1972 and earned his Associates Degree from Wenatchee Valley College in 2002.
He then enrolled as a full time student at the University of Alaska
Southeast, Juneau campus to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Art (minor in
Northwest Coastal Art). His Native art instructors have included Steve
Brown, Steve Hendrickson, David Boxley, and Jim Heaton. He also I took a
beginning Tlingit language class taught by
Florence Sheakley and incorporates
traditional Tlingit names into some prints.
He has shown his work at
the Seattle Trade show and the Denver Gift show, The Gathering of Nations
Powwow in Santa Fe New Mexico.
