Institute holds the
copyright to material it produces. However, SHI also is bound by the
traditional laws of the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian of Southeast Alaska.
Under
traditional law, clans hold the ownership to their stories, songs and
crests. SHI requests that viewers respect this law and that they not use any
of the crests or designs depicted on this website without the permission of
the appropriate clans. SHI
routinely helps Southeast Alaska Natives enforce their rights in this arena.
People
or entities commercially using images, crests, designs or any other
materials posted on this website will be in violation of copyright laws.
